Al-Tafhim li Awa'il Sana'at al-Tanjim by Abu Rayḥan Al-Biruni, one of the greatest Persian scholar and polymath, was registered on Iran Memory of the World list.

Abu Rayḥan Al-Biruni was polyglot, who was fluent in Arabic and Sanskrit, but the only work left of him is in Persian. In time of where Arabic was the dominant language of scientists and scholars, he dared to write his book in Persian.   

Iran Memory of the world

Al-Tafhim li Awa'il Sana'at al-Tanjim is the oldest Persian text in mathematics and astronomy and is undeniable in its accuracy and credibility in scholarly literature and literary significance among post-Islamic Persian literature. Al-Biruni wrote the book in a way that was easy to understand for astronomy freshmen in the first half of the fifth century AH for Iranian female students.

The significance of this work has also been translated into several living languages around the world such as English, Italian, German, Russian and Tajik. This book is now in the library of the Library, Museum and Document Center of Iran Parliament in Tehran.
